John J. Burke

John J. Burke joined the firm in 1992 and is a shareholder in the firm. Mr. Burke's practice focuses on civil litigation, with an emphasis on professional malpractice, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, general insurance defense, and defense of civil rights litigation. He also advises physicians and hospitals in health care law.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Burke practiced as a registered nurse. He maintains licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Idaho. Mr. Burke received an A.S. degree (Nursing) in 1981 and a B.S. degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Weber State College in 1989. He received his J.D. from the University of Utah in 1992. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in the State of Idaho, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Burke is a member of the Defense Research Institute and currently serves as the DRI State Representative for Idaho (2004-2007), and the State Liaison for the DRI Drug and Device Committee. He is also a member of the Idaho Association of Defense Counsel, and the American Bar Association, and its Tort and Insurance Practice and Litigation Sections. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association. Mr. Burke has been a lecturer and contributing author to programs sponsored by the National Business Institute and has lectured to physicians and other health care providers concerning medical malpractice, risk prevention and other medical/legal issues.
